At Least 21 Killed After Massive Explosion At Chinese Cehmical Plant - Aug
11, 2016
Almost exactly one year after
China's port city of Tianjin was rocked by a massive explosion on August 12 that
resulted in hundreds of casualties, and left parts of the town looking like a
"warzone", moments ago China's CCTV reported that at least 21 people have been
killed and 5 wounded in a blast at a chemical plant in
Dangyang, located in central China, according to state
broadcaster CCTV.
According to AP, which has a somewhat conflicting version of event, the event took place at a power station,
where it was caused by the explosion of a high-pressure steam pipe The blast
occurred at a power plant in the city of Danyang, according to a report on the
website of the Hubei Daily. It said officials rushed to the site to oversee
rescue efforts and the cause of the explosion was being investigated.

Astronomers Suspect 2016 Meteor Fireball Event In Australia Was Caused By
Asteroid That Had Been 'Captured' By Earth's Gravity - 02 Dec. 2019
Now we'd like to add 'mini-moons' to the list of heavenly bodies we should be
worried about. Scientists have claimed our planet was recently hit by one of
these mysterious rocks, which exploded in a gigantic fireball.
However, it's believed that an 'extremely slow fireball' which exploded over
South Australia may have been a mini-moon. It was picked up by six different
detectors when it went kaboom in August 2016. No-one was hurt in the incident,
but it shows that the movement of objects through the region of space close to
Earth is highly unpredictable.
This year, NASA has discovered two asteroids which could be on a collision
course with our planet. The space agency keeps a database called Sentry that
contains details of all the space rocks with a chance of smashing into Earth.
This list is updated every time a new object that could hit humanity's homeworld
is discovered.
The first is called 2019 ND7 and was observed in July. This beast is almost 200
metres wide, which is large enough to wipe out an entire city. It could be
bigger than a meteor which detonated over Tunguska, Russia, in 1908 and
flattened trees over an area of 770 square miles.
The second asteroid is called 2019 WG2 and was observed this month. It's much
smaller and stretches to just 35 metres wide.
However, this could still cause a huge explosion. It's estimated that a crater
outside Winslow, Arizona, was blasted into the Earth 50,000 years ago by a
similarly-sized object which exploded with 10 megatons of energy.

Astronomers spot asteroid just two days before it comes within 25K miles of
Earth - September 9, 2016
As asteroid 2016 RB1 passed under the Earth’s south pole, it didn’t disrupt
communication or weather satellites, which orbit Earth a little over 22,000
miles away. If it weren’t for careful inspection from a
team of astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey, we may not have even noticed it.

18,000 MPH Asteroid Almost Causes Mass Extinction and Nobody Saw it Coming -

our ability to detect such a cataclysmic threat is sorely lacking.

Look What Is Falling From Space! - September 25, 2016
This 2016 SJ had a MOID (Minimum Orbit Intersection Distance) of .000678439 au
or .264 LD s. GET THAT?!?!
The presenting data says it will be traveling .4 LD from
earth and the minimum required for impact is .264 LDs.
Let that sink in. Then with a Condition code of 7, it was highly unpredictable.
In other words, it was expected to hit. Over 100 tons of space bodies/debris
hits the earth every day. 100 tons. Most of it small and not tracked. NASA
claims they had 48 hrs notice from discovery to closest approach. This meteor
was 12x 30 feet in size ( 4.1m x9.2m). It was traveling 30,646 mph.( 30k+, 30
grand+) Now think of a very small exploding bullet. This impact would have done
horrific damage, but not an ELE. So this one came 2016SJ ,and 2009ES did not.
At least this is what we know…we are told.
Just recently China reported on 2009 ES asteroid ready to whack earth.. possibly
an ELE event (extinction level event) soon. It is big and if this or one like it
was really coming, do you think NASA would tell us? I doubt it.
-
Asteroid 2016 SJ just gave Earth a 'Close Shave' yet another one is going to
pass by Earth
Bus-sized Asteroid 2016 SJ passed just 0.4 lunar distance away (92,575 miles or
148,985 km) one third of the distance between Earth and the Moon on September
22, 2016.
This close encounter will be followed by a larger
asteroid 2016 SG, 90ft (29 meters) long, that is set to pass us by in just a few
days.
Asteroid 2016 SG was just discovered on September 22, 2016 and it has a highly
uncertain orbit with a condition code of 8 out of 9.
Yet at the end of September another large asteroid is going to pass by Earth.
It seems they are coming one after one. Anyway, if one decides to hit, not a whole lot can be done about it.
Also, they are not picking up most of these rogue asteroids until the warning
window is very short. Just the law of odds and one will probably hit somewhere
on the planet one day.

METEOR SMASHES INTO AUSTRALIA: People left terrified as space rock causes houses

Cops aren't taking 'meteor' crash very seriously if this X Files joke is an
indication - 26 Sep 2016
One local man talked to Yahoo News about his sighting of the possible meteorite,
saying he was "sitting at the beach in Boyne Island and saw it all unfold,
looked like a big as hell shooting star and lit up the beach."
"Then about a minute later a big bang and a shockwave came over the water and
shook my car little bit was a pretty awesome experience," he said.
Harvard astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell told the Gladstone Observer it was
indeed likely a meteor. "It's not a comet, or Queensland wouldn't exist anymore
(and we'd have seen it coming for days)," he said.
"It is probably a large meteor. I'm guessing a rock about a metre across which
would have been big enough perhaps to leave fragments (meteorites) on the
ground."

LISTEN: 'Fireball meteor' causes tremor in 'super sonic boom' - 27th Sep
2016
Professor Michael Drinkwater said the fireball was "larger than usual" as people
reported hearing sounds and vibrations, which isn't usually the case.
"Meteors typically are only visible when they are still very high, 50 to 120km
in altitude.
"It's well above the speed of sounds, so it will create powerful super sonic
boom or shockwaves."
-
WATCH: Government footage of 'fireball' lighting up sky - 28th Sep 2016
Renee Sayers, a meteor chaser with Desert Fireball Network, said they are
currently relying on hundreds of reports from local witnesses and CCTV and
amatuer to decipher its size, which suggested "it's looking big".
"At the moment, (there are) lots of observations," Ms Sayers told radio station
4BC.
"We've got some people saying it looks like a giant basketball. One to two
metres across potentially.
Mr Bennedick said people from as far as Mackay to the Sunshine Coast saw the
flashing light.
He said the force broke windows in Gladstone homes too.
I am in Toolooa and my whole house shook. It was a really loud rumble. All my
blinds are closed so I did not see any light or anything else.

NASA's New 'Intruder Alert' System Spots An Incoming Asteroid - October 30,
2016
A large space rock came fairly close to Earth on Sunday night. Astronomers knew
it wasn't going to hit Earth, thanks in part to a new tool NASA is developing
for detecting potentially dangerous asteroids.
The rock that whizzed past Earth tonight was discovered on the night of Oct. 25-
26 by the NASA-funded Panoramic Survey Telescope & Rapid Response System (Pan-
STARRS) on Maui, Hawaii. Within a few hours,
preliminary details about the object appeared on a Web page maintained by the
Minor Planet Center at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. Scout did a
quick analysis of the preliminary details and determined that the object was
headed for Earth but would miss us by about 310,000 miles.

Surprise! Newfound asteroid 2016 VA gives Earth a close shave - 02 Nov
2016
The asteroid 2016 VA zoomed within about 48,000 miles (77,000 kilometers) of the
planet at 8:32 p.m. EDT (0032 GMT on Nov. 2), according to researchers with the
Minor Planet Center (MPC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The space rock, which
is thought to be 23 to 72 feet (7 to 22 meters) wide, was traveling about 48,000
mph (77,000 km/h or 21.4 km/sec) relative to Earth during the close encounter,
MPC scientists said.
