Meteor Fireball Lights Up Madrid's Night Sky - Jan 22, 2021
A rock from an asteroid hit the Earth's atmosphere early Thursday morning
at
about 126,000 km/h, creating a large fireball over Madrid that could be

this one,

meteorites fall to Earth, according to the Madrid Planetarium.
The phenomenon, which took place at around 3.56am local time, was
captured and
recorded by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the La
Hita
meteor observation station in La Puebla de Almoradiel in Toledo. The
fireball

offered
a unique, beautiful sight.

Loud Boom In Bali's Buleleng Allegedly Due To Exploding Meteor
Fireball -
25 Jan 2021
Residents in Buleleng, Bali, and its surrounding areas were shocked by a
loud
boom on Sunday morning, January 24. The earthquake sensor of the
Meteorology,
Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded it as an anomaly.
The agency's coordinator for earthquake and tsunami mitigation, Daryono,
confirmed that many questioned the mysterious bang. Some were shocked
that the
loud boom rattled windows. Some also claimed they saw a meteor falling in
the
north or Bali sea.
"It goes viral on social media as many report loud rumbles, especially
those in
northern Bali," said Daryono on Sunday, January 24.
One of three BMKG's seismographs in Singaraja detected the tremor at
10:27
Central Indonesian Time (WITA) for about 20 seconds. "After being
analyzed, the
vibration was not caused by an earthquake," he concluded.
Besides, the agency did not record any fault activity in the regions
since 08:00
WITA. "Its strength is equal to a 1.1 magnitude quake," he added.
However, the
BMKG could not find the source.

Meteor Fireball Streaks Across Central Arkansas sky - 25 Feb 2021
A fireball streaked across the Central Arkansas sky at 8:17 p.m.
Wednesday
24 Febuary.
Steve Arnold of Eureka Springs is looking for video to help triangulate
the
location.
Arnold, who was a host of the Discovery television show Meteorite Men,
thinks
there's a good chance the meteorite landed on Earth, possibly in the
vicinity of
El Dorado or north Louisiana.
"There is a slight chance that it totally burned out," he said. "I'm
optimistic
that there's pieces. It was bright. The more shallow angle, it's a more
gentle
process. When it's coming down and getting into the thick part of our
atmosphere
quickly it will more often break up into a bunch of little pieces. This
one is
more likely to have stayed intact or broken into a couple of pieces."

Space Rock Reportedly Hits Cuba, Lights Up Night Sky and Causes
Explosions - 20.03.2021
The Caribbean island was previously hit by a meteorite in February
2019, with space rock fragments causing a sonic boom powerful enough to
shatter windows in the city of Pinar del Rio in country’s west.
Seismologists in Cuba have tentatively attributed mysterious lights
illuminating the night sky above the Moa seismological station in the
country’s east to a meteorite.
At 10:06 pm, (Mar 19, 2021)the station registered ‘several
luminous phenomena’, with residents in multiple communities reporting
spotting a red and white light followed by one or more explosions.
National Seismological Service Chief Enrique Arango Arias confirmed to
CubaDebate that the agency believes the event was caused by a space
rock.
“Judging by the readings of the sensors, it was not a terrestrial
explosion, but, since it was an event with such characteristics, our
equipment recorded a shockwave,” the seismologist explained. He added
that in addition to Moa, the event had been registered in the nearby
towns of Sagua de Tanamo and Maisi.

Green meteor fireball streaks across the skies of Jacksonville,
Florida - 10 Jun 2021
Green meteor streaks across the skies of Jacksonville
It took place about 9:50 p.m. and crossed from southwestern to
southeastern skies as it broke up. Typically breaking up between 30 and
70 miles up in the atmosphere and traveling at tens of thousands of mph,
these rocks heat up rapidly and this causes them to explode. You can see
that in the video.
What you can't see is that it was greenish in color. This implies it was
made of nickel, which burns green.
The exact track appears to have come across the state of Florida probably
across Tampa to Daytona.

Asteroid Bigger Than Statue Of Liberty Set For Earth Flyby, But BIG ONE
Of 2021 To Come In March, NASA warns - 10 Feb 2021
On February 10 alone, at least four Near Earth Objects (NEOs) are due to
buzz the Earth.
The nine-meter asteroid 2021 CX has already passed the planet at a safe
distance of 1.9 million kilometers.
Space rocks including the Statue of Liberty-sized, 119-meter long 2019
YP5 and the 5-meter 2008 DB will follow shortly after at a distance of 3.1
million km and 5 million km respectively.
Bringing up the rear on Wednesday will be 2021 CE3, with a diameter of
16m, which will pass the planet at a distance of 7.3 million km.
Less than 24 hours later, proving that size doesn't always matter when it
comes to the threat posed by space rocks, the six-meter asteroid 2021 CU1 will
pass the planet at 605,113 km.
Soon after, not to be outdone in scaring the hell out of stargazing
earthlings, asteroid 2021 CO, measuring 32 metres in length, will come between us and
the moon at a distance of 345,885 km and a speed of 41,000 kilometers per
hour.
Lest anyone get too comfy, in March NASA is warning of the Golden Gate
Bridge-sized asteroid 2001 FO32, with an estimated diameter of somewhere between
769m to 1.6km, which is expected to pass within 2 million km of our planet.

COMET THE SIZE OF STAR WARS' DEATH STAR SPOTTED HEADING TOWARDS OUR SOLAR
SYSTEM - 25/06/2021
Comet Bernardinelli-Bernstein - named after the astronomers who found it
- is currently beyond the orbit of Neptune, the furthest planet from the
sun. It was found by Pedro Bernardinelli and Gary Bernstein, who did a
deep-dive into data collected by the Dark Energy Survey's massive
telescope in the Chilean Andes.
At first they weren't sure what it was, until another astronomer pointed
a telescope in Namibia in its direction and saw it developing a coma,
confirming it's a comet.
Its estimated size is 160km across, making it easily the biggest comet
ever seen in modern times - nearly three times wider than Comet Hale-Bopp
and 29 times wider than Halley's Comet. The biggest comet ever recorded
was Sarabat in 1729 at 100km wide.
