Mystery of the glowing orb: Bizarre fireball that splits in two could be a
meteorite burning up in Earth's atmosphere - 6 January 2015
Strange fireball was spotted by commuter Ken Roberts as he drove home
American Meteor Society received 1,500 fireball sightings in the past week
UFO experts say the bright orb flying in the opposite direction is
'peculiar'
Sighting has sparked speculation that it may be a UFO or aircraft crashing
Fireball may have also been a meteorite breaking apart in the atmosphere
Reports of a fireball above California were received by the American Meteor
Society on 3 January 2015
Mike Hankey, from the American Meteor Society, said: 'This video looks fake. It
was published on Jan 5th and we had no reports of fireballs in southern
california on Jan 5th or Jan 4th.'
There was one reported from CA on both the 3rd and 4th. Maybe the date was
screwed up?

What the hell is this strange UFO ejecting an orb filmed in California? -
Jan 5, 2015
This unidentified flying object was captured on video over Southern California.
The UFO—which is producing a corkscrew tail that seems to indicate rotational
movement—ejects some round thing that flies into another direction at a faster
speed than the object itself. What can it all be?
Today is the peak night of the Quadantrid Meteor Shower, which happens as the
Earth crosses the remains of a comet or planetoid observed half century ago.
It's logical to think this is may be one of these meteors, but it seems way too
slow to be a meteor, which enter the atmosphere at a much faster speed than the
UFO recorded in California. Here's a real time NASA recording of the 2013
Quadrantids for comparison:
This is the most obvious explanation—it could all be a prank carefully crafted
in a computer.
UFO Crashing Releases Orb Over Southern California. Anyone Else See It? -
Jan 5, 2015
I was driving home after work when this UFO or whatever you call it caught my
eye. I pulled over in front of somebody's house to film it. I would have got a
better shot but I didn't want to jump these peoples fence. Anyway I don't know
what the hell to make of it. Couldn't have been a plane cause there was no
noise.
And I never heard a crash after either. The Orb thing flew straight up into the
sky and disappeared. Sorry I didn't film that. I didn't know what to focus my
attention on.

Did You See It – Meteor-Fireball May Have Passed Over Humboldt Before Crashing
Into Sonoma County In California?! - FEB 01, 2015
Emergency dispatchers began receiving calls just before 1 p.m., said Sgt. Cecile
Focha, spokeswoman for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
"Everyone responded as if it was a plane crash," Focha said. “There was no
evidence of where the object landed. Something got lobbed at the earth.”
Witnesses described seeing a glowing fireball streaking across the sky for about
10 seconds. Some said it burned bright white. Others said it changed color from
red to blue to green.
“It was amazing,” said Mark Morelli of Santa Rosa, who saw it while driving down
Guerneville Road. “The tip was bright green and it had a really long tail.”

Fireball Streaks Over Bay Area, Beginning Annual ‘Fireball Season’

overhead.
Spring is “fireball” season when a 30 percent increase in meteors is observed

Strange Light Streaks Across the CSRA Sky - June 29, 2015
This is likely a meteor, known as a “Shooting star” by many, or space debris.
Tiny meteors up to several inches in diameter burn in the Earth’s atmosphere
every few minutes, more often than most think. Objects up to the size of one
meter (3 feet) hit the earth every few months producing brilliant displays. If
this was a meteor, it was likely 1-2 feet in diameter.

UNUSUAL COMET DIVE-BOMBS THE SUN: - Feb. 20th, 2015
Astronomers are puzzling over a comet that passed "insanely close" to the sun on
Feb. 19th. At first glance it appeared to be a small object, not much bigger
than a comet-boulder, doomed to disintegrate in the fierce heat. Instead, it has
emerged apparently intact and is actually brightening as it recedes from the
sun.
Click to view a post-flyby movie recorded on Feb. 20th by the Solar and
Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO):
Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab explains what's odd about SOHO-2875:
"It's a 'non-group comet,' meaning that it does not appear to be related to any
other comet or comet family that we have on record."
